The large central map of the West Indies and Central America is titled "Carte des Isles de lAmerique et Deplusieurs Pays de Terre Ferme" and acknowledges D'Anville as the source. The coloured key indicates European possessions. Other maps show the Isthmus of Panama, a plan of St. Augustine in Florida, the lower part has plans of Vera Cruz and San Domingo and a large panorama of Mexico in the centre.Printed on heavy paper.Excellent full hand colour..Very good condition.

The country's name is derived from an Aarawak (aboriginal Indian) word "Xaymaca", meaning "land of wood and water". Soundings are shown in the bigger harbor areas. John Hinton (fl.1745, d. 1781), London-based publisher, Universal Magazin 1747-1781. A plan of the town of Havana and direct vincinity. With an inset depicting Cuba. From his Universal Magazin.The map shows the extensive fortifications erected by the spaniards since the establishment of the city in 1519. Of note, the large fort Morro (key to the harbor), the chain blocking the entrance to the anchorage with fort San Salvador de la Punta at its south end, and the depth soundings throughout the bay. The town streets are shown in detail, but somewhat misplaced. Excellent hand colour.Cartouche.Very good condition.

Attractive chart shows harbours around the island.The town and fort of Basse-Terre & Charlestown. Locates Pointe de Sable, Pointe Ragged, Pointe de Par, Pointe de St. Croix, La Grande Pointe. Rivers & elevations on the island, the latter indicated by drawings of mountains. Indicates buildings & settlements & includes a compass rose with fleur de lys crossing the chart and a decorative title cartouche in top right.Later hand colour.V.good condition.Scan is detail but there are margins.

Uncommon. From Robertson's Geschiedenis van America. Amsterdam, 1778. The information in Mexico, including New Mexico up the Rio Grande, is quite good. Along the Gulf coast the major rivers are indicated and in "Tecas" are noted "Cenis" and "Presidio," near the latter of which the note indicates that "Hier liess sich de la Sale 1685." Also included in the map is an inset of the region around Mexico City. Very good hand colour.Very good condition.
