Very scarce map.From the Barent Langenes Caert Thresoor of 1598 and this is the 1600 French text edition.The Italy maps were engraved by Petrus Kaerius (Van Den Keere). This small but attractive atlas was sold for the first time in 1599 by Cornelis Claesz in Amsterdam. This amazing map of Rome illustrates numerous important buildings located within the fortified city. The extensive table along the lower half keys specific "tourist" sights, residences, important buildings, etc. Two insets handsomely presented as unfurled scrolls show the elevation of the most important buildings including Palais du Pape, Palais de St. Pierre, Ste. Marie and several other churches. Plus a third inset is a map "Carte des Environs de Rome" and at upper right a table lists the churches of Rome. This handsome city plan is displayed in a partial birds-eye view perspective giving it a somewhat three dimensional feel. The map was really an early map for tourists as the full title says its is'tres utile pour les voyageurs'.Some attractive vignettes and the principal buildings shown on map.Uncoloured as issued.Very good condition.

Homann's splendid map of Sicily, Sardinia, the southern tip of Italy and the Maltese islands, with many place names and decorative details. The large, sumptuous title cartouche shows Bacchus, Ceres, Vulcan at the forge, and putti holding up the coats of arms of Sicily and Sardinia. Warships engage in combat at sea and in the bottom corners are inset plans of Catania and Valletta, the latter encased in a cartouche featuring a Knight of Malta and the Maltese coat of arms. In almost mint condition with excellent original colour.

Full Title: Novissima et accuratissima delineatio Romae veteris et novae. Superb decorative large map of Rome. A very detailed and decorative bird's-eye view of the town copied after J.B.Falda (1670).This map was probably printed for Galerie Agreable du Monde one of the rarest books with only a hundred estimated to have printed.Two decorative cartouches and key insets to churches (1-266), Grave tombes(267-331) and Palaces (332-464).Excellent condition.
