Attractive early map of Virginia.Decorative example of the German edition of this sought after map of the Chesapeake. The map is based upon Augustine Hermann's map of 1673 and later maps of the region. Extends from the Saquesahanoug R in the North to Pomejok and C. de Trafalgar in the South, and inland along the Powhatan R and Toppoahonoc R. Jamestown is located, as is Smythe's Island?Excellent hand colour and in mint condition

A very good example of the Buffalo Map.North America from New Mexico to the St Lawrence and from Florida to Lake Superior. Insets of the Niagara Falls and a Bison. Highly decorative, one of the classic maps for any collection. Information for the map is based on explorations by French explorers and fur traders, Jesuit priests, and Spanish explorers, many of whose routes are shown on the map. Two striking cartouches dominate this map: in upper left, Niagara Falls, missionary and Indians, and in lower right, a buffalo with Indians.Fine original body colour; very good example.

Attractive map of old Louisiana and northern and western Florida showing the French claims west of the Appalachians. Map covers an area from Lakes Michigan and Erie south to the Gulf Coast including the South Carolina and Georgia coastline. A large Louisiana stretches westward and northward to New Mexico with many Indian lands noted and some areas as "unknown." The Mississippi River runs southward to the Gulf; and map shows the Texas coast to San Luis Pass below Galveston and names Natchez, New Orleans, Biloxi, Mobile Bay and Pensacola and the northwestern Florida coast, showing St. Augustine & Cape Canaveral on the east coast. Map has very decorative title cartouche of leaf, flower and scroll motif.Excellent full hand colour.Very good condition.

A striking map of North America showing the political situation there between the French & Indian War and the American Revolution. With their victory in the earlier war, most of North America belonged to the French. Blair shows the British colonies extending from the east coast to the Mississippi. He does include Spanish "New Mexico" (now Texas) in the lower left corner, next to a very truncated "Louisiana." To the north, bounded by what Blair notes as the border between Virginia and Carolina according to the Charter of 1665, Blair shows lands occupied by the Kansez and Osages, implying British control of this area. Two other northern territories are indicated, again implying British control of the continent even west of the Mississippi. The map is filled with fascinating information of the continent at the end of the British period of control. Rivers, lakes, and major towns and settlements are noted. Also quite a bit of information on Indian tribes is given. Blair also notes the borders as established by the original charters for the colonies. A very decorative map of this interesting period.Superb hand colour.Very good condition.

Very interesting and rare 1794/5 map of the 13 states.Gouvernement de Tennessee with army lands. Lexington shown as the capital of Kentucky, Nashville not present. Large region in west Tennessee called Broken Ground and many other cartographic curiosities.Original outline colour.Mint condition.

Attractive map from Lamarche's Atlas Elementaire.Printed Year 3 of the New Republic.Lamarche was the successor to Vaugondy (often known as Delamarche).Reasonably early map of the 13 new States.Lots of place names,indian tribes etc.Detailed,finely engraved with original outline colour.Very good condition.
