Now a RARE map.FIRST EDITION OF THE LAST MÜNSTER MAP OF SCANDINAVIA. IN HAND COLOUR. This map is derived from Ortelius Septentrionalium and replaced the Münster map based on O. Magnus from 1544 and later. From a woodblock, but printed in the copperplate manner. Greenland as Island.Lots of fictious islands south of Iceland.Excellent condition for an example of this map.(Ref: Ginsberg Printed Maps of Scandinavia and the Arctic 1482 - 1601 Entry 31, figs. 31,1a and 31,2a, Burden 68)SOLD

Very scarce map.From the Barent Langenes Caert Thresoor of 1598 and this is from the 1600 French text edition.The Italy maps were engraved by Petrus Kaerius (Van Den Keere). This small but attractive atlas was sold for the first time in 1599 by Cornelis Claesz in Amsterdam. In 1600, Claesz published the atlas with a Latin text composed by Petrus Bertius.The later and more common editions with larger reengraved maps appeared from 1606.Very good SOL:Dcondition.KOEMAN,Atlantes Neerlandici,Vol ii Lan 9.

Uncoloured. Small map view of Iceland, printed in reverse, showing mountains and the erupting volcano Mount Hecla. The sea around the island profusely decorated with illustrations of whales and whaling. Very good condition.
