This elephant folio lithograph is from the Naturalist Atlas by Georg August Goldfuss. The work was released in groups of twenty prints per year, from 1824-1842 in Dusseldorf, at Arnz. In total the collection included approximately 380 lithographs. The work was never released as an officially bound copy. Because of the extreme difficulty in storing these oversized prints it is nearly impossible to find them in the condition offered here. Individual prints from this natural history collection are highly sought after and often realize high prices for their decorative appeal. They are on uncut woven paper with a "J Whatman" watermark and feature fine later hand-coloring.EXTREMELY RARE. MINT CONDITION SOLD |
