PLAN DU PASSAGE DU VAR FAIT LE 30 NOV 1746 ..OTTENS
Sold
Rare Plan of the Sea and land battle between Austrian Empire and Sardinian forces aided by the English fleet to invade Provence. On the 30th November 1746 they laid seige to Antibes.
After a fruitless bombardment of Antibes and coupled with an insurrection restoring independence to the state of Genoa ( thus blocking the Austro Hungarian & Sardinian armies rear) and a dispute between the Austrian and Sardinian commanders the armies retreated back to Piedmont.
Detailed position of the armies, many place names St Paul de Vence, Vence, Antibes, St Laurens Cagne etc.
Cartouche
Mint condition
The British Navy's involvement in this affair was part of the overall plan to harry the French and their fleet both in the Atlantic and Mediterranean distracting them from attempting to regain their Colonies in North America.
I can find no other example of this map and it was probably published seperately
