A large and impressive, thematic map of North America, including also Central America and the West Indies, illustrating the physical, geographical divisions, also plant and mineral distributions throughout the continent. On each side of the map there are seven panels with finely engraved scenic views, showing how indigenous peoples hunted, fished, farmed and cultivated their crops, each with descriptive text below, also vignettes of 18 indigenous plants. The map shows Texas and California &c. within their own boundaries, also the colonial claims of 6 European powers, with original outline colour distinguishing frontiers. Title in swash lettering.Some small nicks in margin,one extending just into printed surface,repaired with archive tape. Scarce.
