Attractive and sought after original antique map of Northumberland by John Speed with English text verso. Dated 1610 and is the Sudbury & Humble at Popes Head version.

The map features town plans of Berwick-upon-Tweed (Barwick) and Newcastle-upon-Tyne (Newecastle); eight arms of Northumbrian nobility; the royal arms; and several Roman antiquities associated with Hadrian's Wall. There are good margins and a clear plate mark.
